What's New in BridgeWorks VDM 2026.07.01: Reusable Parameter Library and Smarter Crystal Reports Migration

The latest BridgeWorks VDM release introduces two enhancements designed to make report development faster, easier, and more reliable. Whether you're building new Views or migrating existing Crystal Reports, these improvements help reduce manual effort while creating a smoother reporting experience.

Build Views Faster with the New Parameter Library

Creating the same parameters across multiple Views can quickly become repetitive. With the new Parameter Library for Reusable View Parameters, commonly used parameters can now be saved to a local library and reused whenever they're needed.

Instead of recreating parameters from scratch, users can browse the library and import an existing parameter directly into a View. This helps standardize parameter configuration, reduces setup time, and keeps reporting consistent across projects.

For organizations with multiple report developers or a growing library of Views, this feature makes it much easier to maintain consistency while improving productivity.

Expanded Crystal Reports Migration

The Crystal Reports migration process has also received a significant enhancement. VDM now converts more of the report logic required for migrated reports to execute successfully.

The migration process now includes support for report parameters, queries, advanced queries, and subreports, allowing converted Views to run and display Finished Reports more completely than before. In addition, the migration utility automatically filters out invalid or outdated table and field references, helping migrated reports better match the current database connection.

These improvements provide a stronger starting point for organizations moving from Crystal Reports to VDM, reducing the amount of manual cleanup needed after migration.

Available Now

VDM Version 2026.07.01 is now available. As always, we recommend installing and testing updates in a non-production environment before deploying to production.
