The VDM July 16, 2026, release introduces several improvements designed to simplify report creation and make everyday workflows more efficient. This update includes automatic column sizing for Visualize Pivots, a reusable Variable Filter Library, clearer parameter settings, connection selection for Dynamic Queries, and improved ODBC schema support.
Keep Pivot Results Clear with Automatic Column Sizing
Visualize Pivot columns can now automatically adjust their width based on the displayed content. This helps prevent unnecessary text wrapping and keeps pivot results easier to read without requiring users to manually resize individual columns.
When working with larger or frequently changing datasets, automatic column sizing makes it easier to maintain a clean and consistent report layout.
Save Time with the Variable Filter Library
The new Variable Filter Library allows report designers to save commonly used variable filters and reuse them across multiple Views.
Saved filters can be organized into categories and subcategories, making it easier to locate and add them to a View. Existing library filters can also be updated directly from a View when changes are needed.
This new functionality reduces repetitive setup, improves consistency, and helps standardize commonly used filtering logic across reports.
Easily Identify View Parameter Settings
Within the Parameters area of the View Designer, the settings panel has been renamed from Properties to View Parameter Properties.
This updated label clearly identifies the panel as the location for configuring the selected View parameter and helps distinguish it from other property panels throughout VDM.
Select a Connection for Dynamic Queries
Dynamic Queries can now specify which configured connection should be used when the query runs.
By adding a connection marker to the Dynamic Query statement, report designers can direct the query to a specific Connection Profile and database. This provides greater control when working with multiple connections and helps ensure that each Dynamic Query retrieves information from the intended data source.
Improved ODBC Schema Support
This release also resolves an issue that could prevent WebReports from retrieving schema information through standard ODBC connections. Reports using ODBC connections can now be configured and run more reliably.
Upgrade to the Latest Version of VDM
The VDM July 16, 2026, release brings practical improvements to Pivot readability, reusable report filters, parameter configuration, Dynamic Queries, and ODBC reporting.
As always, we recommend testing the update in a non-production environment before deploying it to production.
